Just few days before the March Keynote Apple released 2 new models of the iPad series – iPad Air 2019 and iPad mini 5, their official names are iPad Air & iPad mini. It’s unknown why they’ve chosen this naming scheme but it definitely will be harder now to find a specific iPad model online, as there is no year or number suffix anymore.
Talking about new – both iPads got the new A12 chip which can be found in iPhone XS and XR. The mini got a usual 7.9 inch display and the larger Air – 10.5 inch Retina display, which is available on iPad Pro series. The new Air looks more like a previous generation iPad Pro and packs all of its features but just has a better processor. Both also got Apple Pencil 1st Generation support.
Prices are 499$ for iPad Air and 399$ for iPad mini.
